How to be a recipient vessel - Part 2

The Lord wants us to be receptive to the things that He is doing in the church now.

A recipient is one who actively accepts or embraces. They’re not passive but take possession of what’s given to them. They are the ones who stretch out to take hold of something rather than waiting for it to be handed to them.

Recipient - take hold of, grasp, or lay claim to something offered.

Intentional reception, not passive acceptance - this is what being a recipient is.

After I’ve prayed, an activity must follow thereafter. This is how prayer was from the beginning, but religion has made prayer a matter of praying and waiting - yet this was never the case.

Jesus prayed for the bread and fish, then broke the bread and began to hand it out. The provision came once He acted. The provision wasn’t already there - it often comes after an act.

Being a recipient vessel is intentional - knowing how to possess (intentional reception).

In Hebrew, recipient is Qabal - to receive with readiness, welcome, or acknowledgment. It’s often used for accepting instruction or anointing with understanding and purpose.

I can’t fully enter into what God has for me until I’ve received an understanding and revelation of its purpose.

Religion is about me, but spirituality is about connecting with God or a spiritual force. Christianity is spirituality, not religion. So we must understand and know the purpose of it.

If I don’t understand who I am or what God has given to me, I can’t keep it.

The Three Knows to Remember:

  1. I need to know who I am in God.

  2. I need to know what I’ve got or what I’ve been given.

  3. I need to know its purpose - the reason God gave it to me.

The better understanding I have of what God has given me, the better I can use it and keep it.

Acts 19:15-16 - The enemy will always test us to see if we know who we are. The seven sons of Sceva didn’t know who they were. They tried to operate in authority with mere words, having no relationship with Jesus. But before engaging in any spiritual act, we need to know who we are and who we represent.

Matthew 4:1-3 - Satan tested and challenged Jesus to see if He knew who He was.

Genesis 3:1-6 - Satan came to test Eve and see if she knew who she was. She didn’t know that her status in the garden was possible because of her obedience to God. As Christians, we make errors when we abandon what God has given us to do.

Eve forfeited her status due to her ignorance. Being a recipient vessel is also about learning how to remain in the role God has given us. It’s not just about receiving, but also about remaining and maintaining. Christians don’t grow because they don’t practise consistency - because they don’t understand spirituality. Spirituality requires consistency; religion doesn’t.

I need to know how to maintain the role, grace, and gift God has given me - this is what it means to be a recipient vessel.

Recipient vessels aren’t just about receiving but about remaining in whatever it is that God has given us to do (consistency and repetition). This is how we’ll thrive. This is why the devil tries to break us by bringing discouragement. Discouragement kills repetition and consistency.

I deal with this by knowing who I am in God and knowing God Himself. I need to know His Word and have it within me. When I meditate and receive revelation, I gain more understanding - and I get this more through consistent practice.

In the realm of the Spirit, manifestation happens more greatly than in the natural realm.

Why Does Satan Require Me to Be a Recipient Vessel?

He operates through lies, manipulation, and deception - all of which require me to be ignorant of my position in God so that I can unknowingly embrace a position in him.

Then he works through deception, lies, and frustration.

We become potential victims of the devil if we don’t know who we are in Christ. When God gives us things, the enemy will come to deceive and steal what God has for us so that his evil plans can come to pass. It’s not enough to simply know that we are children of God.

Satan isn’t questioning our salvation - he’s challenging our purpose, grace, gift, and calling.

Prayer Points

  • Lord, how am I being a recipient to the enemy?

  • Where is the door, and how do I close it?

  • Lord, show me how to be a recipient vessel for You.

When I pray with the knowledge of God, I pray with authority.

This November, I need to be a recipient vessel.

Prayer Point: Lord, show me how to be a recipient vessel for You.

Amen
